System change effective today – QLD-Border Declaration Pass Applications
Qld Police issued a media statement today about changes to the Border Declaration Pass Application system effective tomorrow Tuesday, November 10. The new upgraded system aims to streamline processing at border checkpoints and strengthen compliance measures. The current system will run side-by-side the new system to avoid issues until the new system is operating effectively.
All border passes that have a valid expiry date remain current – however, it is recommended to carry photo identifcation or proof of address and produce if asked at the border control crossings.
The new system will:
- Determine what type of pass you need based on questions you answer
- Include a requirement to upload identification documentation – eg: drivers licence or other proof of address.
- Be valid for 14 days
NOTE: It may take up to 3 business days to verify validate documentation and for the pass to be issued.
- Apply for a new Border Declaration Border Pass at least THREE BUSINESS DAYS prior to the current one expiring. (eg if expiring on a Monday, apply by Tuesday the week prior)
- Carry a hard copy of identification until you are issued with a pass in the new system.
