“With Yellow Ribbon National Road Safety Week commencing on Monday 30 April, SARAH is delighted to welcome Australian Trucking Association (ATA) as a 2018 Principal Partner.” Peter Frazer, President of Safer Australian Roads and Highways said today.
The ATA is the peak body that represents trucking operators. The ATA’s members include major logistics companies, transport industry associations and businesses with leading expertise in truck technology. It has a major focus on ensuring road safety in and around trucks.
The ATA joins the Australian Automobile Association, Altus Traffic Australia, Ennis-Flint Australia and Road Safety Education as a Principal Partner of Yellow Ribbon National Road Safety Week. Each organisation is committed to improving national road safety in their field of operation and road safety is the underlying principal behind their work.
The ATA’s CEO Ben Maguire said his organisation was proud to become a Principal Partner of 2018 Yellow Ribbon National Road Safety Week and SARAH itself.
“The trucking industry is an essential part, not just of the Australian economy but also as a primary promoter of road safety across Australia. We see our alignment with both SARAH and National Road Safety Week as an excellent basis for further promoting the safety “Drive So Others Survive!” safety message.”
“The ATA and SARAH will be working together to directly support the development of a positive road safety culture, both in the promotion of safety within the industry and importantly, in the way the general public interact with heavy vehicles.”
“Indeed the ‘Drive So Others Survive!’ message is already foundational in the work we do both within the industry and with the wider community. Simply put, the ATA is committed to promoting road safety in and around trucks.”
“For instance, with regard to the ATA’s mobile education centre, the Volvo ATA Safety Truck, continues to be an effective and fun way for the Australian public to learn. In 2016, the Safety Truck had more than 36,000 people go through its doors.”
“The safety of our members drivers, and of course the safety of every road users, is central to our operations. Our work with SARAH and the promotion of National Road Safety Week is a clear demonstration of this commitment.” Mr Maguire said.
